 Shake waterfall
Shake waterfall
The Shake waterfall is located in a village with the same name; 3 km North West from Sisian and is the main sight and the natural garnish of the surrounding.
The story claims that long-long ago there lived a beautiful black-eyed Armenian girl with long curly hair. Her name was Shake. During the invasion of Temur-Lenk, his soldiers were engrossed by Shake’s beauty and fancied to kidnap her, but Shake, who was keen on her liberty like the nature of her country, did not feel like to become Temur-Lenk’s wife. She ran away from those who persecuted her and jetted herself into the Vorotan Gorge. Falling from 18 meters, like the hair of beautiful Shake, the water forms something majestic in combination with Vorotan Gorge. The waterfall is considered to be on of "7 miracles" in the region, it is beautiful the whole year around and always attracts those who value the nature.
