Right behind the statue of Alexander Tamanyan, the architect of central Yerevan is the famous Cascades. This massive staircase that connects central Yerevan to the Victory Park is scented by flowers growing on multiple levels. Each level of Cascades presents statues from world known sculptors such as Lynn Chadwick and Fernando Botero, cross stones and a wider scene of the city.

On top of stairs a collection of statues from Fernando Botero is presented and a memorial column for the 50 anniversary of Soviet Armenia is erected.

Located in Cascade the Gafesjian Center for the Arts opened in November 2009 and is dedicated to bringing the best of contemporary art to Armenia. The Center offers a wide variety of exhibitions.

The majority of exhibitions are derived from the private collection of its main benefactor, Mr. Gerard L. Cafesjian. This collection of more than 5,000 works includes one of the most comprehensive glass collections in the world. It is particularly rich in the work of the Czech couple Stanislav Libensk and Jaroslava Brychtov, whose work revolutionized the use of glass as an artistic medium. Other important glass artists in the collection include Dale Chihuly, Bohumil Elias, Pavel Hlava, Jarom Rybak, Ivana Armkova, Bertil Vallien, Lino Tagliapietra, Mark Peiser, and Hiroshi Yamano. The collection also has substantial holdings in drawing, painting and sculpture by such influential artists as Fernando Botero, Arshile Gorky, Jennifer Bartlett, and Andy Warhol. Cafesjian Sculpture Garden is located at the base of the Cascade and presents one of the finest collections of monumental sculpture found anywhere in the world.

Cascades is loved for its outdoor concerts and fireworks, for its exciting statues, for its waterfalls and for the magnificent view of Ararat from its top level. Cascades is a beloved place for children, for elderly and for young couples!
