Sisian
Sisian is in Southern Armenia, about 220 km South-East from Yerevan, and is 1600 m high from sea level. The city is cut into two halves by Vorotan river and is encircled by snow peaked mountains that include Ishkhanasar and Salvard, which seem to be defending the city from an invisible enemy.

A rocky eagle with widely stretched hands is guarding the road to Sisian near the main entrance into the city, as if to remind the greatness and autonomy of Sisian. Sisian is well-off with cold and mineral springs, and the most eminent ones in them are the abundant springs in Shake village. This region is well known for its mains of blue basalt which is, along with rose tuff, widely used in buildings of this middle size mountain city.

The grave findings in North-Western Sisian, that are more then 3000 years old, prove that Sisian is one of the oldest habitats in Sunik Region. The findings include numerous ornaments, household items, coins and a golden lead for a pot. Most of the findings are currently preserved in the State History Museum in Armenia.

The climate in Sisian is cool. Sisian has clean and fresh air and cold water. The slopes of mountains surrounding the city are covered by forests. All these, in combination with perfect mountains outlined in evening dusk, create an uplifting impression and make one feel like the eagle near the gates of Sisian"¦
